Alice Mei-Yu Hohberger initially studied German Language and Literature and Musicology (Bachelor of Arts ès Lettres) at the University of Geneva (UNIGE). She then pursued a degree in piano at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) with Tomasz Herbut (Bachelor of Arts in Music) and Pierre Sublet (Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy with distinction). She continued her studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music (HSLU), where she earned the Master’s in Interpretation in Contemporary Music with distinction, studying with Florian Hoelscher and Stefan Wirth.
In 2019/20, she was awarded a scholarship by the Hella Siegrist Foundation. She continued her education in 2021 with a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Contemporary Music at the HKB, with Wilhelm Latchoumia. In 2025, she will pursue another CAS in Computer Music at Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
Since 2018, she has taught at the Music School Conservatory of Zürich (MKZ). She is a pianist with the Ensemble SoundTrieb and rehearsal accompanist for the Gregorius Choir, led by Chrysoula Peraki.
Her artistic focus is on interpreting contemporary music and exploring new concepts of sound and performance, especially in the realms of electronic and experimental music. As a pianist and performer, she has participated in various concert tours, festivals, and academies, including the Société de Musique Contemporaine Lausanne, Forum Neue Musik Luzern, Musikfestival Bern, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, and the research project „Performing Live Electronic Music“ at ZHdK.
For ONJMS, she is involved in fundraising and works to support young musicians.
She dreams of biting the moon, catching stars, and sculpting clouds.
